Le parkour (free running, street climbing) is an extreme sport which isn't well-known.
It's a kind of way of moving through the city using urban architecture to move around.
So, it mean that you are jumping, doing vaults, running,
climbing and anything else to get where you want to.
When you run you feel free and you can do a trick everywhere,
use every wall to jump over it, on it, from it, climb it or do a vault on it.
Everything can be used in parkour and there are many different techniques to use
every kind of object and to practice parkour everywhere
(most of them are described on our website but there are still new stunts being invented).
You are limited only by your imagination. Le parkour was born in 1980s in Lisses, France.
Davide Belle and Sebastien Foucan are the creators of free running.
At the beginning it was looking like a kid's play but after short time they started
to treat their hobby seriously and they called it "le parkour". Some people
think that it's a sport other that it's an art. Anyone can see it in a different
way what doesn't mean parkour can't be both of it. Up today, no one has organized a parkour
contest, so we don't have a typical competition between traceur's
(that's how are people who practice parkour are called a.k.a. free runners).
In parkour you are fighting your own fears and weaknesses.
When you are standing on the edge and thinking of jumping you start
thinking of what will happen when you won't make it, about all the pain
which comes with every fall. Standing there you must focus on what are
you going to do and how to make it. When you figure it out you must
"free your mind" , leave fear and doubt behind you. If you get frightened
during the stunt you're not gonna make it and fall down, so you must be
sure of doing it. Doing new stunts you are getting better and breaking
inhibitions you are getting stronger and getting know yourself better.
